Hive & Honeybee Owner, Tim Shirey, had a call with Jeff Duncan and his staff about our story and the things that are impacting our small business.
POWDERSVILLE, SC – June 24, 2021 – Today, Hive & Honeybee, an online retailer of honeybee-inspired products, hosted a virtual store tour with U.S. Representative Jeff Duncan (SC-03) to showcase the company’s handmade products and discuss prominent issues small businesses are facing, primarily due to the pandemic. The store tour was organized by the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Qurate Retail Group.
During the store tour, Hive & Honeybee Owner and Executive Director Tim Shirey discussed the triumphs and challenges of starting his business during the pandemic while also working a full-time job as a cybersecurity expert.
“We are more than honey,” Shirey said. “We are also a place for sweet finds. We provide a forum for small businesses around the country to sell honeybee-inspired products and educate the public on the bee ecosystem.”
Additionally, Shirey and Duncan discussed several issues impacting Hive & Honeybee, including cybersecurity concerns with third-party vendors and shipping costs.
“We have been fortunate to have tremendous demand since our opening earlier this year, however one of our biggest challenges revolves around shipping. With a heavy product like honey, shipping costs add up quickly. We are doing everything we can so that we don’t pass those along to our customers,” Shirey said.
Hive & Honeybee was featured last month as part of the Qurate Retail Group and NRF Foundation’s Small Business Spotlight initiative, which highlighted several veteran-owned small businesses during the month of May.
