Retail Advocacy

Speaking with Lawmakers

Hive & Honeybee got to speak to legislators about our small specialty retail business and how we got started. This event was put together by the Republican Leader of the House Committee on Small Business to show case small businesses owned by military veterans.

We will continue to advocate for positive change in our community, in the Commonwealth of Virginia and at Capitol Hill for small retail businesses and for policies that bolster Main Street.
Tim Shirey and Jeff Duncan discussed several issues impacting Hive & Honeybee, including cybersecurity concerns with third-party vendors and shipping costs.

As owners of a small business, we see firsthand the high percentage of our revenues that go to packaging and shipping. The US Postal Service’s package delivery is critical to getting our products to the doors of our customers -- at an affordable price.

NRF’s America’s Retail Champions program celebrates small retailers who are exceptional champions for retail and the communities they serve. Thirty-three U.S. small retailers were selected as champions for the program and five have been named as finalists.

Last week the owner of Hive & Honeybee attended the NRF Retail Advocates Summit, the retail industry’s premier advocacy event. The Summit was a celebration of the industry coming together — major iconic retail brands along with Main Street independents — to demonstrate retail’s impact every day in communities they serve.
